A serialization retrofit solution for the future

Problem

Stevanato Group is a globally renowned specialist machinery manufacturer for the pharmaceutical industry. The company’s job is to make sure that its customers have efficient machinery that lives up to the industry’s strict standards. Lately, pharmaceutical manufacturers have been increasingly focused on being ready to comply with global serialization regulations – and Stevanato Group wanted to offer a serialization retrofit solution to their customers’ existing machinery. However, finding a partner that understood the particular challenges of retrofitting was not easy.

Solution

The challenge was a perfect fit for CIM, since retrofitting existing production lines entailed a series of tasks that demanded CIM’s deep software expertise:

Integration of new software with the machine control software on the existing line
Integration of higher ERP and serialization systems on site or within the cloud
Storage of relevant production data
A single HMI for the operator to ensure high usability and minimal effect on OEE
An inspection solution for guaranteed tamper evident labelling

Result

Choosing an inspection and serialization partner who understands that inspection is not just about cameras, and serialization is not just about what happens on the packaging line, was key to the SVM’s success in this project.
